Alex Yoon-Hendricks selected for 2017 AAJA Sacramento / Sacramento Bee internship

Congrats to AAJA San Francisco Bay Area member Alex Yoon-Hendricks, who was selected as this year’s AAJA Sacramento/The Sacramento Bee intern!

Her reporting internship is part of a partnership between the chapter and the paper that is in its eighth year. Alex, who is a junior at UC Berkeley, interned at NPR’s Weekend Edition last summer. She is a senior staff writer at The Daily Californian and will serve as the paper’s managing editor next school year.

Apply for the AAJA Sacramento/The Sacramento Bee 2017 Internship

In partnership with The Sacramento Bee, AAJA Sacramento is sponsoring a 10-week internship program for aspiring print, photo, graphics and multimedia journalists. A weekly stipend of $400 will be provided. The program begins in May or June 2017, depending on the intern’s availability. Upon completion of the internship, the intern will be eligible for a $1,000 grant from the chapter.

Lonnie Wong receives AAJA Lifetime Achievement Award

AAJA Sacramento chapter board member Lonnie Wong was named the recipient of the 2016 AAJA Lifetime Achievement Award for demonstrating courage and commitment to the principles of journalism over the course of a life’s work, as well as dedication to issues important to the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.
