Calling all high school and college students interested in journalism! Join AAJA Sacramento for its annual Student Workshop:

Find out what skills and training hiring managers in the industry want to see in those breaking into the industry, and have your work critiqued by a professional. Whether you’re interested in broadcast, print, photography or new media, this is your opportunity to get your questions answered.

Feb. 10 – Lunar New Year Mixer

Annual fundraiser set for Sept. 29

Mark your calendars!

AAJA Sacramento is planning its 3rd annual Photo Showcase, the chapter’s annual fall fund-raising event to benefit programs and scholarships.

The Photo Showcase, which has featured award-winning works from The Sacramento Bee and Associated Press, returns to the 20th Street Art Gallery on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Watch for more details or contact chapter President Judy Lin at [email protected].

Volunteers Wanted!

The chapter is looking for volunteers to make this year’s fundraiser a success. We will hold a fund-raising meeting to map our our efforts. Hope to see you there.

May 30 – Professional Workshop: Social Networking for Journalists

AAJA Sacramento invites you to sign up for a three-hour class on Saturday, May 30, focusing on how journalists can _ and should _ be taking advantage of social networks to help promote their work and cultivate sources.

This class will be taught by Jenn de la Fuente, former web editor at The Sacramento Bee and current marketing director for the Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce.

Space is limited to 15 members, so first come, first serve! The event is free to AAJA members and $15 for non-members.
