Dan Nguyen in the Big Apple

 

Former Sacramento Bee online reporter Dan Nguyen is now in New York working for the budding nonprofit journalism venture, Pro Publica. He will always be an honorary member of AAJA Sacramento. Good luck, Dan!

Judy Lin moves to The Associated Press

AAJA Sacramento chapter co-president Judy Lin moves to The Associated Press to cover the state budget for the newswire service. Judy left the Sacramento Bee in August to take a staff writer position at AP’s Sacramento office. Judy started her career at the AP as an intern in San Diego.

Bobby Calvan receives AAJA/Poynter Institute fellowship

Bobby Caina Calvan, senior writer for The Sacramento Bee, has received an AAJA/Poynter Institute Fellowship to attend a Narrative Writing on Deadline workshop on July 13-18 at The Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida. Calvan attended Camp AAJA and ELP this year and is an AAJA Advisory Board member.

Ryan Yamamoto, Sports Anchor/Reporter at News10, has been nominated for an Emmy for his story – “Beating the Odds, Beating Brain Surgery.”

AAJA Multimedia training selections

AAJA Members Florence Low and Ngoc Nguyen of the Sacramento Bee have been selected for the AAJA Multimedia Training Opportunities to be held in San Francisco this year. The hands-on training sessions include classes on multimedia equipment, digital and high-definition cameras, Mac digital editing, video production, Final Cut Pro and Dreamweaver.
