2012 AAJA Sacramento/The Sacramento Bee Intern Selected

Congratulations to Richard Chang, who was selected as AAJA Sacramento/The Sacramento Bee’s 2012 summer intern.

Richard is a junior at the University of California at Davis, majoring in history and minoring in communication and political science. He was a reporter covering the UC Davis campus for The California Aggie. Richard interned at the Ventura County Star during the summer of 2011 after completing UC Center Sacramento’s Journalism Program.

The 10-week summer internship is a partnership between AAJA Sacramento and The Bee. This is the third year that AAJA Sacramento has sponsored an intern at the newspaper.

Volunteers Needed to Help Solicit Items for AAJA National Silent Auction

AAJA Sacramento is helping to gather silent auction items for the national silent auction, which will be held during the Unity 2012 convention in Las Vegas from August 1 to 4.

Some popular auction items in the past have included hotel stays, gift certificates, jewelry, gift baskets, cookbooks, sports items, etc. You want to look for items that people would want to bid for and can easily redeem or carry home in their luggage!

We can provide you more detailed instructions, plus form letters for gathering donations. We would like all the silent auction items collected by June 1. The chapter will ship all the items in a single box to Las Vegas.
Cody Kitaura, AAJA Sacramento secretary, will serve as the contact person for the chapter’s silent auction items.

He can be reached at [email protected] or 916-200-6496.

Please let us know if you can help and the best way to contact you via email or phone.
